Russia presented some of it’s demands for achieving “a lasting peace in Ukraine” today:
1. Russia demands that Ukraine withdraw its troops from the 4 regions that have been incorporated into the Russian constitution since 2022 (Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhia and Kherson)
2. Putin supports a complete ceasefire, but first, the European arms deliveries to Ukraine must be clarified (a form of demilitarization of Ukraine).
3. Ukraine must remain a neutral state, meaning not joining NATO.
4. Russia does not demand that Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelenskyy resign. However, it emphasizes that all documents signed by Zelenskyy must be questionable, as they regard him as an illegitimate leader of Ukraine.
5. A solution to the conflict in Ukraine is impossible unless normal relations between Moscow and Washington are restored.
6. If the USA takes control of the gas network connecting Russia with Europe, then Russia will want some European countries to be willing to buy Russian gas on market terms.
The demands were made by Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov in an interview with RIA.
