In a bold move to tackle cultism, the Ogun State Police Command has arrested seven suspected members of the notorious Aiye Confraternity, also known as the Black Axe cult group. The suspects, identified as Balogun Ibrahim, Towolawi Omotayo, Oshodi Oluwaseun, Nkechi John, Mustapha Aliu, Opeyemi Rasheed, and Mustapha Sikiru, were apprehended during a sting operation on Thursday.
According to police spokesperson Omolola Odutola, the suspects were arrested following intelligence that they had been spotted along Ogbo on Ijebu-Ode Road. The police had been monitoring the group’s activities, and this arrest marks a significant breakthrough in their efforts to combat cultism in the state.
The suspects are alleged to have been involved in various cult-related crimes, including illegal drug activities, robbery, and housebreaking in the Ijebu-Ode area. The police are continuing their investigation and are working to dismantle the cult group’s operations in the state.
