The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed groundbreaking plans to permit eligible Nigerians to vote in the 2027 general elections without needing a Permanent Voter Card (PVC).

INEC to Leverage Technology for Voter Accreditation
Speaking on the new initiative, INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu emphasized the role of technology, particularly the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), in the future of Nigeria’s elections. According to Yakubu, BVAS has the capacity to authenticate voters using biometric data and digital records, enabling voters to participate even without a physical PVC.
