A ballistic missile fired by Yemen’s Houthi rebels has reportedly struck Saudi Arabia. While there are no official confirmations yet, this incident highlights ongoing tensions in the region.
Recent Houthi Attacks on Saudi Arabia
The Houthis, backed by Iran, have frequently targeted Saudi Arabia with missiles and drones. Their attacks have aimed at critical infrastructure, including oil refineries, airports, and military bases.
One of the most notable incidents occurred in March 2022, when the Houthis launched a large-scale assault on Saudi oil facilities during the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Jeddah.
Houthi Threats in the Red Sea
Over the past year, the Houthis have also intensified attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea. In a major incident approximately six months ago, U.S. military reports confirmed that the Houthis attacked two crude oil tankers—the Saudi-flagged Amjad and the Panama-flagged Blue Lagoon I. These actions have raised concerns about maritime security and global energy supply chains.
