At a memorial event this evening (Monday) at Shin Bet headquarters honoring fallen members of the service, Shin Bet Director Ronen Bar said:
“After years on many fronts, in a single night, on the southern front, the skies fell. All systems collapsed. The Shin Bet also failed to provide a warning.
As the head of the organization, I took responsibility for this — and now, on this special evening, which symbolizes remembrance, bravery, and sacrifice, I have chosen to announce the fulfillment of that responsibility and my decision to step down as Director of the Shin Bet.”
