A woman in Kaduna State, Nigeria, has been granted a divorce by a Sharia court after accusing her husband of excessive sexual demands, leaving her physically drained and unable to function during the day.
Woman’s Complaint: “He Goes On From Midnight Till Dawn
The wife told the court that her husband engages in prolonged sexual activity every night, making it difficult for her to rest or carry out her daily responsibilities.
“I am exhausted. He doesn’t let me sleep, and I can’t function properly because of his demands,”. she explained.
Husband Denies Allegations, Claims Moderation
In response, the husband denied the accusations, insisting that he only has intercourse with her “once or twice a week.” However, the court found the wife’s testimony more credible.
Sharia Court’s Ruling: Divorce Granted
The judge ruled in favor of the woman, stating that the husband’s behavior was unreasonable and harmful to her well-being. Under Islamic law, while spouses are expected to fulfill each other’s needs, excessive demands that cause distress can justify divorce.
