Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian was reportedly injured during an Israeli airstrike last month, according to U.S. intelligence sources cited by CBS News.
The incident occurred while President Pezeshkian was attending a Supreme National Security Council meeting targeted during the attack. Iranian state media initially reported the injury, stating that the president hurt his leg while escaping through an emergency shaft.
Two U.S. officials have now confirmed those accounts, though it remains unclear whether the Iranian leader was specifically targeted by Israel.
This development adds a new dimension to the already heightened tensions between Iran and Israel, with regional stability hanging in the balance.
