“I’m not a fan of brides kneeling to feed the groom at weddings” — Media Personality Ifedayo Agoro

Media personality and influencer Ifedayo Agoro has shared her thoughts on the tradition of brides kneeling to feed their husbands during wedding ceremonies.

Speaking on Middle Ground with Frank and Ife, Ifedayo said she personally isn’t comfortable with the practice.

“I fed you cake during our wedding, but I just didn’t kneel down,” she told her husband, Frank, during the conversation.

Frank went on to explain the cultural meaning behind the gesture.

“The custom is that a bride learns how to feed her husband properly. You kneel down to give me the cake, and when you go into your husband’s house you follow suits, that’s how you follow the tradition,” he said.

Responding, Ifedayo maintained that she didn’t want to pretend.

“I know, and that’s the issue. I didn’t want to be a hypocrite because I never used to kneel down,” she said.
