In a stunning revelation, the IDF and Defense Ministry confirmed that during last year’s Lebanon conflict, the Israeli Air Force successfully intercepted dozens of Hezbollah drones using a new, compact laser interception system.
This cutting-edge tech is a scaled-down version of the Iron Beam — Israel’s high-powered laser defense weapon developed by Rafael — which is slated for full deployment later this year.
The Defense Ministry fast-tracked the system’s development in response to the growing drone threat from Hezbollah.
“During the war, the Air Force quietly deployed the laser, achieving remarkable interception success — saving lives and protecting critical infrastructure,” officials said.
