Rudiger Koch, a 59-year-old German, has emerged from a 120-day underwater adventure, setting a new Guinness World Record for the longest time spent living underwater. Koch lived in a 30 sq meter submerged capsule off the coast of Panama, beating the previous record of 100 days set by American Joseph Dituri.
Guinness World Records adjudicator Susana Reyes was present to verify the record, confirming that Koch had successfully completed his 120-day underwater stay. As Koch emerged from the capsule, 11 meters under the sea, he expressed a mix of emotions, saying, “It was a great adventure, and now it’s over, there’s almost a sense of regret, actually. I enjoyed my time here very much.”
Koch’s remarkable feat demonstrates his endurance and adaptability, and his record-breaking achievement is a testament to human curiosity and exploration.
