A 22-year-old Nigerian couple, Mustapha and Rofiyat, who recently got married, have seemingly defended their decision.
Rofiyat took to Facebook on Wednesday, August 20, to share lovely photos of herself with her husband.
“Leadership is not by age. It’s your vision and commitments,” she captioned the post.
The young couple got married in July 2025 in Kogi State.
The marriage had sparked debate on the ideal age for marriage.
While most of the reactions were positive and encouraging, others felt the duo is too young to understand the full responsibilities of marriage.
